As a Family Learning Community, CRICS is committed to serving the servants through education in Chiang Rai. CRICS desires to assist in creating opportunities that challenge, empower, and facilitate education for families currently studying outside of the CRICS on-campus learning environment.

Extended Community Services (ECS)

Extended community students are welcome to connect with certain services, classes, or activities at CRICS after completing a simple application and/or interview with the principal and paying fees appropriate for the supplies and services provided.

We ask ECS parents to understand that applying for ECS services ahead of time and following through with commitments of attendance for classes or events allows CRICS staff and teachers the opportunity to know what to expect when the class time or event arrives. Here are some ECS services routinely available at CRICS.

Secondary Courses

Secondary courses (grades 7-12), such as World History, Algebra II, Comparative Governments, Computer Science, Strength & Conditioning, and many more, may have space available for students who wish to study through our Extended Community Services program.

ECS Students may participate in 2 or fewer core courses (math, science, English language arts, social studies). Students must be fully enrolled at CRICS to take more than 2 core courses. Non-core classes (electives, world languages, PE, Bible, etc.) are not usually limited, but may be limited by administration due to teacher availability, class size, schedule, or other limiting factors.

For a list of academic policies and current courses, contact our secondary principal, Mr. Troy Roberts troberts@crics.asia, for more information. (Fees apply. See the Participation Fees section for details).

Chapel

Join us for corporate worship and spiritual encouragement in Chapel, every Tuesday, from 8-9 AM.

Post-Secondary Academic Counseling

The Academic Counselor teaches a course to juniors and seniors, in grades 11-12, to help prepare them for college applications, transition, and life after high school. If there is space,  ECS students may join these classes as electives. Also, appointments can be made to discuss global college options, college preparation, and standardized testing. You may contact the Academic Counselor, counselor@crics.asia for more information.

Facilities

Facilities such as the sports fields, sports court, auditorium, playground, Upper Room exercise facility, climbing wall, and certain classrooms may be available for use outside of normal school hours. Permission must be obtained in advance. Contact our Thai and facilities director Aj. Kanit Klaijumlang, kruukanit@crics.asia, for more information on obtaining permission. (Fees apply. See the Participation Fees section for details.)

Chromebook Lease Program

The Chromebook Lease Program exists to provide ECS Students with access to cheap computers allowing them to study online without breaking the bank.

To make use of the Chromebook Lease Program please fill out this form.

CRICS Library

The CRICS library can be a helpful resource for encouraging reading at all levels from infancy to adulthood. The membership fee will allow the user “check out” services for library resources and other programs available through our library. It is expected that ECS families will respect and follow our policies of due dates and fines for late, lost, or damaged books and resources. Further policy details (i.e., membership fee, community hours, library guidelines, etc.) are available in this document.

The library may be used by ECS students. Please check in with the library staff upon your first visit to be updated on student policies in that classroom and study space concerning allowances for volume, use of space, and phones. This is an active and important area of campus and everyone who uses it must obey the library expectation or move to the cafeteria.

Sports

CRICS offers a variety of athletic opportunities, including soccer, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, cross-country, and more. ECS Students may be able to join athletic teams for training and competition, depending on space and eligibility.

A one-time seasonal fee covers basic participation costs; however, additional expenses may be required for travel, accommodations, uniforms, or other needs.

For more information, please contact our Athletic Director, Mr. Parrish Wessels, at pwessels@crics.asia. (Fees apply.)

Musicals and Drama Productions

ECS Students may be eligible to participate in school musical and drama productions, depending on available space and casting needs.

To inquire about current opportunities, please contact the Fine Arts Department Head. (Fees apply.)

Standardized testing

CRICS offers  English language proficiency tests and MAP testing several times per year. For availability and registration, please contact Ms. Tabitha at admin@crics.asia.

CRICS is also an official PSAT and SAT testing site. For details on how to register and take either test on campus, please contact counselor@crics.asia. (Fees apply.)

Youth Group

The Youth Group at CRICS is a place where students are given the opportunity to grow in community, knowledge of the Word of God, and in ministry leadership with their peers. Unique spaces are created for both middle (7-8th grade) and high (9-12th grade) schoolers to come and get to know CRICS teachers in a setting outside of the classroom. God has been leveraging our Tuesday night gatherings of worship, and being rooted in the Word together, to develop connections between God and people. These relationships transcend grade divisions and school associations to unite around prayer, small groups, and the foundation for discipleship relationships.

Activity Exclusions

Dances, movie nights, game nights, sports day and other community-building activities are intended for full-time students only. These activities are not available to ECS students unless special permission is given. Contact the secondary principal for more information.

Participation Fees

Library Fee

An annual membership fee of 1,400 baht will cover a family of up to four persons. Each additional child will be assessed an additional 350 baht. (The cost of library resources damaged beyond what is determined to be “reasonable wear and tear” will be invoiced directly to the family.)

Core academic courses (such as Language Arts, Calculus, Biology, etc.) meet daily for one class period, five days per week.
