Action Discipleship is designed to lead students to “rediscover” Christian discipleship by following the model of Jesus. According to Jesus, discipleship is not based only on study but action. The transformative power of God’s Word is not only in the knowing of it but in the doing of it. This course will put a high premium on personal application and discussion, leading students in discovering the heart of Jesus by putting into action what He has said. This course will follow The Jesus Quest by Medialight as a resource to guide discussions. Classes will be initiated with a viewing of The Jesus Quest videos, followed by a discussion focusing on action plans as to how they may live out the teaching for the week.

Open to students in grades 9-12, the course deals with cultural issues that challenge the Bible’s authority and its unchanging nature in the face of a changing world. The goal would be to help students realize they are not at war with ideological opponents as much as they are fighting for them. But to do so effectively, they “must be prepared to answer anyone who asks you for the hope you have with gentleness and respect” (1 Pet. 3:15).
